Internet Marketing-- Know Your Audience


As an internet marketer, your goal is to make sales, of course. You have to create a website, offer products or services, make your website visible, find customers, and make sales. The road to success may be long and hard but it is also very rewarding.

One of the very first things that you should do, after you have picked your niche, is to know your audience. They are, ultimately, the ones who would make you successful.

Research

Do some research. Take a look at the market that you have chosen. Who is your target audience? What do they need? What do they want to have? What problems do they have that you can solve and how can you solve these problems?

Create A Profile

One way to know your audience is to create a profile for the, this will basically make them more than just “an audience”. They would now be actual people-- people who have lives and needs and pains and wants. In your mind, imagine what their lives are. Create maybe 3 to 5 profile. 

Are you targeting single moms? Those who are hardworking, have children who they need to take care of and have no time to take of themselves? Are you targeting the teenagers who are looking for themselves, trying to find out who they really are? Are you targeting dads who want to have more time for their families?

You can literally create lives for these profiles. Include information like age, marital status, financial status, job, number of family household, etc. you can also add in more details, like what is their family background, what are their hobbies, what are their passions and interests, what are their pet peeves, etc.

Creating these profiles allows you to get more personal with your audience and this way, you would be able to relate to them more. You would know what their possible problems are and you can then find out how to solve these problems. You would know how to gain their trust and how to build a lasting relationship with them.

And Then…

Once you already know your audience, you now have the necessary “closeness” to them that would allow you to serve them better. At the end of the day, the only way you can sell is if you are providing something helpful, and the only way to help is to know what the problem is.
