Wine Gifts for Christmas

The Christmas season is upon us again. What does this mean? Well, among other things, it means that we should already get our gift list ready. Having a list of people you would be giving gifts to and what gifts to give each person would help you make your Christmas shopping easier and more organized. Another thing that would be helpful is to do your shopping early. This would allow you to avoid the Christmas crowd and it would also allow you to choose better and avail of more sales.

One of the best ideas for Christmas is wine gifts. They are gifts that are suitable for most people. They are also very easy to find not at all that expensive. When choosing wine gifts, there are a few things that you have to keep in mind. These things would help you ensure that your gift would be appreciated by your recipient.

Recipient’s’ Preferences

Since you would be giving the gift out to someone, the most important thing to remember is that the gift should be for them, not for you. This means that you should make their preferences top priority. Don’t choose a gift just because you like it. Choose a gift because the recipient would love it.
In giving out wine gifts, find out what the wine preferences of the recipient are. Do they prefer white wine, red wine, wine from a particular year or from a particular region, etc.? Giving them exactly what they want would show that you personalized the gift and did not just pick up the first bottle that you saw.

Check the Label

The wine’s label would be able to tell you a lot about the wine. Information on a wine’s front label would include what region it was made from, what grapes were it made from, what year it was made, etc. It would also be able to give you an idea if the wine had any particular awards or recognitions. A wine’s back label would contain a description of the wine. You would be able to learn a little about what the wine would taste like from the words used to describe it. Alcoholic content would be provided as well.

Price Translations

Just like most things, a more expensive wine bottle doesn’t automatically translate to it being a great wine choice. There are a lot of wine types that are very good but are also affordable. When giving out wine gifts, it would do you good to learn which wine brands are good but not expensive. Gifts are supposed to be impressive and special but that doesn’t mean you have to empty your pockets.

Wine pairs

When purchasing wine baskets, the basket would usually include 2 bottles of wine and some treats that are traditionally matched to that particular type of wine. For example, red wine is a great match to chocolates. It would be good for you to choose a basket that does include treats to make your gift even more interesting. Two bottles of their favorite wine would make your gift great, but add treats to that and your gift would be excellent.

Wine Accessories

Sometimes, a couple of bottles of wine don’t seem to be enough to express your love or appreciation for someone. That’s not a problem. If you want to give more than just wine gifts, you can also add wine accessories. You can buy wine totes, wine glasses, etc. which would be great additions because they are also very useful.

Other Occasions

Wine gifts are not only for Christmas. Wine can be given to people as gifts for any occasion. It may be your father’s birthday, your brother’s graduation, your sister’s promotion celebration, your bosses’ anniversary in his position, etc. Wine is one of those things that can be appreciated by almost everyone at almost any time.

Personalize Your Gift

Since wine gifts are common, you need to find a way to make your gifts personal. The recipient would always appreciate a gift but giving them something that is clearly for them, that fits their personality and that you have obviously put some thought into would make them appreciate your gift even more. As mentioned, knowing your recipient’s wine preferences would help a lot in making your wine gifts more personal. Aside from this, there are still countless things that you can do to add that personal touch. A little creativity would go a long way.
